Introduction


You will be responsible to review & design all HVAC/Fire Suppression/Medical Gas & Plumbing related systems for renovations & capital projects at AKU campuses, international locations and outreach canters, that are being executed at AKU. Additionally, provide support for Mechanical related matters for other AKDN projects. Also review mechanical contractor’s scope of work, as per international specifications and review shop drawings and materials submittals for approval.


Responsibilities


Specifically, you will be responsible to:


·       Lead mechanical design activities & assist in cross discipline coordination. Engage with the client, project & maintenance teams, end-users & contractors.


·       Prepare concept and schematic design for assigned projects with the help of the team. 


·       Must be proficient in using AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Office and related computer software.


·       Strong technical understanding of HVAC, Fire Suppression, Medical Gas & Plumbing equipment, accessories, & installation methods.


·       Ability to coordinate drawings with other consultants and be able to resolve issues at site.


·       Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC/UPC, HTM, JCI and EDGE compliance.


·       Extensive experience in the field of mechanical building services design with experience across a range of project scales and building types.


·       Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects.


·       Strong understanding and ability to produce energy efficient & sustainable designs.


·       Excellent customer service & influencing skills including ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people across AKU.


·       Experience in supervising a team producing drawings, models and calculations.


·       Desire to work in a multidisciplinary team finding holistic building design solutions.


·       Detailed knowledge of development control and planning policy processes.


·       Able to lead and motivate teams and command respect.


·     Ability to work under pressure and meet stringent timelines.


Requirements


You must have:


·       B.Tech./B. E Mechanical/Industrial


·       6 to 8 years of related experience including 3 to 5 years supervisory experience.


·       Analytical abilities with problem-solving skills.


·       Excellent communication, public speaking, and report-writing skills.


·       Supervisory/Lead experience in managing team of engineers and CAD operators.


·       Extensive Knowledge about specifications of HVAC, Fire Suppression and Medical Gas equipment and their operation.


·       Shall have strong knowledge and practice with industry mechanical standards and codes.


·       Possesses working knowledge of mechanical equipment applicable to hospital industry.


·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


·       Capable of working with minimum supervision and lead the team.


·       Familiar with quality assurance systems and concepts.
