The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognised regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health, and Non-communicable diseases & mental health.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant in the Department of Community Health Sciences.


Responsibilities


You will be responsible for:


  • providing assistance in carrying out academic & administrative tasks which involves preparing memoranda, letters, reports etc.
  • providing assistance in carrying out research tasks which involves preparation of background documents for writing grants, publications, abstracts, brochures, completion of research data and literature search
  • providing assistance in teaching assignments i.e. preparing presentations, teaching material, assignments and handling multimedia & IT resources
  • handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls and taking actions as required
  • handling logistical and administrative tasks for conducting teachings and trainings
  • maintaining a cohesive filing and documentation system of all references for future correspondence
  • maintaining stock of necessary supplies for day-to-day functioning of the office
  • providing overall assistance to the team for smooth functioning of the department
  • organising meetings, preparing agenda and writing minutes
  • coordinating travel and transport arrangements for official visits of concerned faculty.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • a bachelor’s degree (master's will be preferred)
  • minimum 1-2 year experience
  • good computer literacy and excellent command over Microsoft office Fluency in written and spoken English/Urdu
  • ability to transcribe minutes and write reports
  • flexibility and be able to work for extended hours/off days
  • good interpersonal & communication skills
  • ability to handle IT equipment’s i.e. Multimedia, Laptops etc.
  • ability to deal with challenging situations during routine work.
