Job Description

Overview Design, implement and manage information systems to support PSP’s GTM strategies. Recognize opportunities of new or improved automation processes for the business. Plan and lead execution of cross department business solutions projects. Responsibilities 1. S&D System Development & Implementation  Understand information requirements of S&D organization and design systems to support them  Understand PI IT standards and ensure that local system development adheres to PI Standards.  Ensure all new developments are properly tested before being implemented in environment 2. S&D Data mining & Report Development  Develop standard reports to facilitate routine data requirements  Write database queries to facilitate ad hoc analysis 3. S&D System Improvement  Understand industry best practices and PI standards and implement them where applicable.  Develop new systems and customize existing systems to meet changing business needs  Implement new technologies and system upgrades as they become available 4. S&D System Sustainability  Ensure regular backup of sales information system and ensure prompt system recovery in case of failures  Test backup effectiveness regularly to ensure timely recovery in case of software / hardware failures  Coordinate with BU IT to minimize system downtime due to network, hardware or software issues.  Fix post implementation bugs that are faced in the live environment  Improve efficiency of the system by using database tuning techniques or improving software interface 5. S&D Software Documentation:  Ensure clear documentation of systems developed locally for both technical and front end users.  Develop & maintain a technical document for sales MIS that covers: o Business Requirements / Process o Database Design o Application structure o Source code documentation 6. Project Proposals  Recognises opportunities for business or valid applications across a very broad technical front and shows ability to take action and exploit such opportunities across all departments.  Guides senior management towards accepting change brought about through Information systems, showing understanding, imagination and creativity.  Identifies and assesses options for the implementation of new or improved automation processes and presents them, with recommendations, to decision makers at senior management level.  Liaises with Sales Information manager within the function and managers within the business; manages expectations for projects. 7. Project Development Lifecycle Management  Identifies and plans necessary change management activities to implement approved new or alternative processes in a project.  Monitors overall progress and initiates corrective action, as appropriate, to ensure that deliverables are produced on time and within budget.  Puts in place systems, processes and measures to ensure that exceptions, slippage and issues of priority are effectively managed, and that extra activities are initiated wherever gaps in the development cycle are identified.  Ensures coherence of the development cycle, by monitoring changes in project portfolio and reassessing whether projects continue to meet business objectives and to use funds efficiently. Recommends cancellation of projects, and initiation of new projects, within the programme.  Reports progress of the project to senior management.  Takes responsibility for the successful completion of major projects and programmes of work, establishing and maintaining the correct structures to control and monitor the deliverables of project to the business.  Ensures that significant problems are identified at the earliest opportunity and that solutions are identified and implemented in line with the change control process at an early stage of project development cycle. 8. Project Quality Assurance Management  Ensures that comprehensive project, quality, and risk plans for projects of a complex nature are prepared and maintained. Monitors and controls team performance against plans.  Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and actioned. Produces appropriate documentation to support these projects.  Ensures the smooth integration of projects with organisational structure and culture.  Maintains confidentiality and observes data protection guidelines. 9. Resource Development/Management  Leads one or more large/medium projects, developing and maintaining human and material resource plans and monitoring the deployment of individuals to ensure that they are contributing effectively whilst developing skills and experience.  Keeps on monitoring and controling team performance against plans.  Undertakes / proposes any necessary training associated with the duties of the post and participates in training and development procedures. Recommends the same for the team. 10. Functional Forecasting  Actively contributes to the annual planning and budgetary process for the Sales Information Systems Department  Supports Sales Information Manager in developing IGP for the SIS department  Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate, actively contributing to organisation's technical strategies. Qualifications Qualifications:  BCS/MCS Degree  Effective business communication skills – written and verbal  1 year experience of Web Based Development  Oracle database administration  Understanding of core business processes  Understanding of sales operations  Capability to identify, communicate, mitigate, manage and monitor risks
