Introduction:


The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.


Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of,Research Specialist Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.This is a platform investigate the impact of different COVID-19 vaccinations administered in the Pakistan population by studying humoral and cellular immunity to inactivated type, mRNA types and single-dose vector vaccines. Further, we will investigate the longevity of immune protection in vaccines against circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants in the population.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.


Responsibilities:


You should be responsible to:


  • Work with Principal Investigator of the project and help liaison with Co-Investigators and collaborators ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities.
  • Keep an oversight of protocols, consent forms and data collection forms required for the project
  • Help with literature review related to the project
  • Interact with HR and Finance based on the requirement of ordering related to project
  • Liaison with faculty for analysis of research data
  • Assisting in preparing reports, manuscripts & abstracts for publication/presentation as required
  • Keep minutes of group meetings and follow up on assigned tasks.
  • Develop end-of activity reports and meeting minutes on regular basis
  • Conduct and participate in regular on-line meetings and sessions with stakeholders.

Requirements:


  • Master's (MA, MSc or MPhil) in health or social sciences discipline with at least 2 years of work experience.
  • Previous experience of research or working in an organization will be preferred.
  • Previous experience of writing up research work or project with the ability to use appropriate referencing will be essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good English language competency (written and oral)
  • Ability to work independently.
