Introduction
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- lead the analysis and interpretation of multi-OMICS data (Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Metagenomics)
- perform OMICS data mining from ENA and NCBI for various research projects
- develop and optimize Nextflow pipelines, ensuring efficiency and scalability
- design and maintain wrapper scripts for workflow automation
- manage and troubleshoot Conda environments, including writing custom Conda snippets
- maintain and contribute to GitHub repositories, including workflow snippets
- guide junior team members and researchers in bioinformatics best practices
- collaborate with the Data Manager, prepare monthly project reports
- present results of bioinformatics software testing (internally and externally)
- present the study results as per the requirement
- write manuscripts and involve in the development of research output
- develop high quality research proposals for funding agency; conduct research and contribute in publications
- play an active role in grant writing and drafting research publications
- stay up to date with cutting-edge bioinformatics tools, databases, and methodologies to enhance research outcomes.
Requirement
You should have:
- MS in Bioinformatics or equivalent qualifications
- at least 03 to 05 years of experience in bioinformatics, with hands-on expertise in multi-omics analysis
- expertise in training teams according to protocol,
- expertise in the Linux OS, including networking, Unix scripting and command line operations
- strong software skills, preferably with fluency in Conda scripting, Python and R, Bash
- proficiency in Nextflow for bioinformatics workflows
- expertise in Conda environment management and GitHub version control
- ability to build new pipelines/algorithms supporting NGS-related projects as needed
- strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively use in writing research papers and grant writing
- prior knowledge and/or strong interest in Bacterial genomics and multi-omics is highly appreciated.
- strong problem-solving, critical thinking and time management skills
- excellent Team Player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
- experience in machine learning applications in bioinformatics is a plus
