The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide best possible patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it. With current 35 clinical faculty our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia department in country, our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and our programs are recognized at national and international level.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Specialist in the Department of Anaesthesiology.


Job Role / Responsibilities:


You will be responsible for:


  • assisting with data management, coding, and ensuring data security
  • facilitating research meetings with residents for project planning and execution
  • providing guidance on research writing, including abstracts and manuscripts
  • assisting residents in obtaining departmental and institutional approvals for research projects
  • troubleshooting research-related challenges and providing ongoing support
  • collaborating with faculty and residents to plan and execute research projects
  • assisting in designing research modules for residents, faculty, and staff
  • conducting literature searches (both manual and database searches via a librarian)
  • supporting residents in study design, data collection, and registry setup
  • conducting regular monitoring, quality assurance, audits, and providing feedback
  • building capacity through workshops and training sessions
  • submitting an annual clinical audit report to the Chair of the Research Cell and Department Chair.

Eligibility Criteria /Requirements:


You should have:


  • a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBBS) or equivalent (BDS)
  • Master’s degree of epidemiology/biostatistics, Public health, nursing or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of experience in medical education, clinical research, or academic healthcare institutions
  • experience in assisting postgraduate students with research and thesis development (preferred)
  • experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, including report writing and biostatistics
  • ability to initiate and contribute to research activities
  • proficiency in MS Office and statistical software such as ATLAS.ti, SPSS, STATA, SAS, or R
  • excellent collaborative and interpersonal communication skills.
