Introduction

The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide best possible patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it. With current 35 clinical faculty our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia department in country, our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and our programs are recognized at national and international level.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Specialist in the Department of Anaesthesiology. 

Job Role / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

• providing statistical support for ARC and guide study design, including sample size calculations and power analysis
• meeting with faculty and residents to plan and execute research ideas
• providing support with designing of research module for residents, faculty & staff
• organizing and conducting workshops, seminars, and training sessions on Biostatistics and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R).
• collaborating with faculty members in developing grant applications, with a focus on statistical design and analysis
• conducting statistical analysis and creating models to interpret large datasets
• assisting faculty in reviewing and refining the statistical sections of research manuscripts
• implementing quality control measures to maintain the integrity of research data
• initiating and actively participating in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, as well as international collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria /Requirements:

You should have:

• a minimum of MPhil/M.Sc in Biostatistics/Statistics
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in any reputable organization
• experience of teaching statistics courses at university level
• 2-5 publications in peer- reviewed journal
• experience with R, Python, SPSS, STATA and Microsoft Office
• basic knowledge of research design and good skills in scientific writing
• excellent collaborative and interpersonal communication skills
• ability to initiate and contribute to research activities.
