Research Specialist, Department of Community Health Sciences

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental Health & Climate Change, and Non-communicable Diseases & Mental Health.


This is a grant-funded contractual position.


Responsibilities


You will be responsible to:


  • ensure proper identification and registration of patients as per study protocol
  • supervise and monitor timely visits of participants’ for follow ups
  • monitor and report protocol deviations 
  • develop SoPs and manual of operation for study activities
  • provide training to the study staff as per the protocols and guidelines of study
  • ensure the completeness, proper filings, and archiving of the data
  • develop and implement QA QC plan with documentation and reporting
  • prepare and compile study progress report
  • collaborate with the Data Manager to prepare monthly project reports
  • present the study results as per the requirement
  • develop high quality research proposals for funding agency, conduct research and actively contribute in publications
  • manage available resources to ensure uninterrupted field activities in unexpected situations
  • report any observed ethical, technical or administrative issues
  • travel domestically as per the requirement of project
  • travel internationally as and when needed
  • actively contribute to multiple publications
  • actively contribute to funding applications.

Requirements


  • You should have:
  • MBBS/ BScN/ BDS or equivalent and MSc in Epidemiology and Statistics / MPH/ MSPH/ Master’s in HPM or equivalent qualification
  • additional certification and knowledge of good clinical practices will be preferred
  • at least three years of experience of managing research studies, supervision of data collection, analysis and drafting manuscripts 
  • expertise in training teams according to study protocol 
  • willingness for frequent travel to different locations for overseeing quality assurance of departmental research projects and training of local staff
  • excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • integrity and strong research ethics
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • strong computer skills including MS Office
  • excellent academic writing skills
  • strong analysis skills on SPSS, STATA, R.
