Job Description

Introduction: 

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to Supervise all project-related activities from field management to data collection, quality control of data collection and maintain good working relationships among staff & community. Specific responsibilities include to:


  • developed standard operation procedures for project-based activities
  • translate study tools/questionnaire and informed consent into the local language
  • supervise and monitor all field activities at all field sites Study sites in Karachi
  • coordinate with staff working at field sites for the completion of tasks within the stipulated timelines
  • provide training to the project staff (Peer supporters/ lactation counsellor) for lactation counselling
  • coordinate with Government and community stakeholders for carrying out the project activities in the field sites
  • visit field sites for monitoring and auditing purpose to ensure proper field operations as per the guidelines and Sops provided
  • ensure the completeness of all the log books/ check lists
  • supervise and monitor household visits
  • ensure the completeness, proper entry and archiving of the data and questionnaires
  • prepare and present weekly, fortnightly and monthly project reports and presentations for the progress of the study being carried out at field sites
  • create liaison with secondary and tertiary care hospitals to refer sick babies and mothers if any morbidity occurs during the visit
  • refresher trainings for the staff
  • the incumbent will be required to travel to different field sites as per the requirement of project activities. International travel will also be involved as per the requirement.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in managing community-based projects
  • Basic Knowledge of surveys and other research designs
  • Data collection, analysis and interpretation in terms of report writing and biostatics
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Willingness to work on field sites.
