Introduction:


The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is the academic department of the University to support wide range in-patient and outpatient women’s healthcare services pertinent to general obstetrics and gynaeoclogy, lactation consultancy, family planning and parenting education. In addition to the core services, department also caters to wide range of specialized services such as Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogyneoclogy and Pediatrics & Adolescent gynaeoclogy. The department also offers formal post graduate training programs of residency and fellowship in Maternal and Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Coordinator in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.


Responsibilities:


You will be responsible to:


  • correlate data compiled in research and interpret the results
  • contribute directly to the development of a research strategy for on-going research projects related to Obs/Gyn
  • prepare write up of results, manuscripts of paper, presentation and research proposals
  • ensure the completeness, proper entry and archiving of the CRFs and / or questionnaires;
  • conduct literature reviews and provide support in writing research papers
  • provide statistical expertise to support resident and faculty for research being conducted in the department, which includes study design, sample size calculation
  • formulate and conduct scientific experiments and analysing and evaluating test research results along with interpretation for Manuscript publications
  • develop statistical analysis plans and reporting formats, and perform complex statistical analyses
  • prepare derived datasets for the analysis using statistical packages, preferably Stata 14, SPSS 21
  • coordinate with the project teams and independently manage all complex statistical aspects of a project
  • ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality control throughout the research process
  • prepare and present weekly, fortnightly, and monthly project reports and presentations.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • Master/MSc Statistics, Epidemiology, Public health, Health policy practice or any other health relevant field / PhD student
  • at least two years of research or data management/analysis related work experience preferably at the hospital setting, reputable public health or health care organizations
  • familiarity with research principles, concepts, practices, and methods
  • good command on SPSS, Stata and other statistical packages, preferably with some knowledge of database management and computer programming
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency in spreadsheets and power point presentations
  • ability to effectively work with diverse teams as well as independently
  • good writing skills
