Research Associates, Wellcome Leap funded project, Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research LocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionThe Aga Khan University - Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (AKU-CRM) is inviting applications from outstanding and ambitious candidates for the positions of Research Associate under the Wellcome Leap project (Ref No. 53452-01 “Developing Advanced "Druggable" Gene Editing Tools for Treating β-Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease”). This project aims to capitalize on the rapid advancements in genome-editing technologies, the development of novel delivery methods, and an established and growing cohort of patient-derived cells to develop a viable and effective therapeutic approach for patients suffering from β-Thalassemia and sickle cell disease. Specifically, you will be responsible for:conducting wet lab supervised research related to the projectconducting daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of consumables/reagents required for the teamkeeping record of procurements, follow-ups, receipts of supplies etc. participating in weekly project meetings, journal clubs, research in progress meetings, and delivering presentations as directed by the assigned facultyassisting with writing of manuscripts, annual reports, and others.  RequirementsYou should have:a Masters' degree in the field of Biological Science or a relevant field. Candidates with an MBBS, BDS or DVM with lab-based research experience will also be considered.at least one year experience of wet laboratory work in one of the following areas: Stem cells including iPSCs and HSCsGene editing in stem cellsHematopoiesis Cytogenetics and imagingGene and molecular therapyAnimal modelsstrong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks assigned by the faculty.essential command of Microsoft office. However, knowledge of use and application of statistical and imaging software would be an advantageexcellent communication skills including fluency in English speaking and writing.Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
