Job Description

Introduction


Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region.
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

This is a contractual position.

Responsibilities


You will be responsible to carry out sonographic examinations at the peri-urban field sites in Karachi. Specific responsibilities include to:


  • ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes and making adjustments to the sonographic equipment whennecessary
  • monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
  • selecting and examining images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, anddetermining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings
  • completing the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients' histories and medical records
  • assisting the healthcare teams during procedures
  • maintaining and cleaning the sonographic equipment
  • prepare ultrasound equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures arefollowed
  • review images to ensure a clear image of the area requested.

Requirements


You should have:


  • Diploma in sonography or relevant degree
  • One - two years of experience in community research
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work in a team setting
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
  • willing to work in the communities/field sites
  • good Computer and Report Writing Skills
