Job Description

Introduction:


The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.


Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of, Research Associate Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.This is a platform toQuantify the impact a P. vivax infection has on G6PD activity, determine the clinical relevance of this change and provide a biological explanation for the observed change in activity.


This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:


You will be responsible to:


  • management and supervision of field sites of the project
  • data management, including validation and analysis
  • liaison with relevant stakeholders of the project
  • training and supervision of field staff and addressing day to day issues
  • developing mechanisms for data management for the continued surveillance
  • manage, compile, and analyze research data and maintain data on various platforms
  • prepare drafts for presentations, reports, publications, and other documents for dissemination
  • monitor project progress regularly and communicate status updates and issues to respective Stakeholders, including study investigators, research team members, field teams
  • supervising data collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination to relevant concerns (as agreed) at regular intervals

Requirement:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in , Maths, Statistics, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in data analysis, research, or project management
  • ability to assess critical situations and give analytical solution
  • knowledge of computer applications
  • ability to use MS Office, various data entry and analytic software’s, and other computer applications
  • extract data from lab/ web database in different forms and convert it to analyzable format
  • ability to collect, maintain, analyse data, and prepare reports
  • ability to develop program plan and implementation skills
  • excellent written and verbal communicator
  • excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • attention to details and problem-solving skills
