Job Description

Introduction:


The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities


You will be responsible to look after socio-behavioral aspects of research to be conducted on health and health-related aspects in the Department of Paediatrics. Specific responsibilities include to:


  • develop research instruments for new projects according to their objectives
  • train junior staff (LHV’s CHW’s, Data Collectors, Field Workers, and Research Assistants) inresearch/interviewing skills and data collection
  • ensure validity of data collected from the field
  • independently conduct interviews and prepare detailed notes on interviews
  • review and screen the hospital data and lab reports to enroll the suspected patients as per the medicalrecords
  • ensure proper collection of specimens as per the provided guidelines
  • assist supervisor in visiting different hospital facilities and community settings to brief them about thestudy purpose
  • monitor all the Data Collectors, Field Workers and CHW’s at the respective field sites to maintainquality control of data
  • visit different households in the communities to ensure the successful completion of data collection in theirareas including Q/C
  • conduct thorough quality checks on datasets, identify and document errors or inconsistencies, andsupport data cleaning activities to ensure accurate and reliable data for analysis and insights
  • raise wider community awareness on Child Health related issues based on prepared project activityguidelines
  • follow and ensure field implementation of project-related SOPs/guidelines as defined in the researchproject
  • ensure proper implementation of intervention
  • assist supervisors in carrying out day-to-day work on the field
  • perform all other duties assigned to him time-to-time by the supervisor

Requirements


You should have:


  • a degree in BSCN/Masters in Arts / Masters in Science/Masters in organizational psychology/ Masters in Sociology any other relevant degree
  • one-two years of experience in community research
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • excellent Team Player
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
  • willing to work in the communities/field sites
  • good computer and Report Writing Skills
