Job Description

Introduction


The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities


You will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the research activities including data collection as well as maintaining necessary records, and create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:


  • review and screen the hospital data and lab reports to enroll patients as per the medical records
  • need to perform duties at the field site OPD and will be involved in the clinical examination of patients
  • visit field sites (locally and outside Karachi) for project-related activities
  • collect data and train junior staff in proper data collection 
  • ensure validity of collected data 
  • enter data in in excel, SPPS or other softwares
  • ensure proper collection of samples and specimens as per the provided guidelines
  • ensure proper storage and transport of samples to laboratory 
  • monitor all the data collectors at the respective study site to maintain quality control of data 
  • raise wider community awareness on maternal sepsis based on project activity guidelines
  • assist study investigators in visiting hospital facilities
  • follow and ensure implementation of project-related SOPs/guidelines as defined in the research project.
  • ensure proper implementation of intervention
  • assist supervisors in carrying out day-to-day work
  • perform all other duties assigned time-to-time by the supervisors
  • communicate and coordinate from time to time with the research team about the implementation of the project at the study site
  • prepare and present weekly project-related activity reports
  • actively participate and contribute to the analysis of study data
  • actively participate and contribute to draft manuscripts 

Requirements


You should have:


•    an MBBS degree•    a valid PMDC License•    at least one to two years of relevant experience in clinical research•    good academic writing and basic analysis skills•    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, SPSS•    the ability to showcase respect towards diverse cultural settings/differences •    excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently •    good communication and interpersonal skills •    resilience and ability to cope under pressure•    the enthusiasm to work in different communities.
