Introduction:


The Aga Khan University was founded in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Department of Oncology offers comprehensive cancer care services to all patients. The services are provided through multidisciplinary teams. Infrastructure facilities include a daycare setting dedicated to oncology patients. Outpatient facilities include clinics of Medical, Hematology, Paediatric, Radiation, and Palliative Care.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Associate, Department of Oncology.


Responsibilities:


You will be responsible to:


  • provide administrative support for research projects, including coordinating meetings, seminars, and workshops, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of research projects and data
  • assist with the preparation of grant proposals and research funding applications, including editing, formatting, and submission
  • organize and facilitate DRC (Departmental Research Committee) meetings, ensuring accurate minute-taking and timely distribution to attendees
  • track and follow up on action items with relevant stakeholders, ensuring prompt completion and implementation of decisions made during the meetings
  • coordinate ERC (Ethical Review Committee) approvals, including preparing and submitting ERC applications, and communicating with ERC staff
  • assist with the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • monitor GVR (Grant Variance Reports)
  • coordinate travel arrangements and expense reports for research team members
  • maintain accurate and up-to-date records of research funding, including grant awards, expenditures, and reporting requirements
  • provide administrative support to the research team, including answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting visitors
  • perform other administrative tasks as required

Requirements:


You should have:


  • at least Bachelor’s degree, Masters would be preferred
  • at least two years of experience in research administration or a related field
  • excellent organizational and communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope-up with work pressure
  • good report writing skills
