About Pavago
Pavago is seeking a Project Accountant to join our client’s team. This role is critical in managing all accounting-related functions for assigned projects, ensuring compliance, and maintaining financial accuracy. The ideal candidate must have 4-5 years of accounting experience (or an accounting degree), preferably in construction accounting or job cost accounting. This position requires strong collaboration with project managers, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel), Sage Intacct, and Timberscan Titanium (preferred but not required). The candidate must be able to work within 8 AM - 6 PM CST.


Responsibilities


  • Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR): Process vendor invoices, reconcile statements, and create invoices/draws for projects.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Collect and track compliance documents to ensure projects adhere to financial and regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration with Onsite Teams: Work closely with project managers in the field to obtain accurate billing information and maintain financial transparency.
  • Project Accounting Support: Handle cost variances, analyze discrepancies, and assist project teams with accounting-related questions.
  • Construction Billing: Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects, ensuring a thorough understanding of construction-specific billing requirements.
  • Financial Record Maintenance: Maintain vendor records and ensure accuracy in all financial transactions.
  • Timely Collections: Create customer invoices and manage payment collections efficiently.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements in accounting workflows for better efficiency.
  • Other Tasks as Needed: Perform additional accounting tasks that may arise based on project needs.

What Makes You a Perfect Fit


  • Accounting Expertise: 4-5 years of accounting experience/ an accounting degree with a focus on job cost or construction accounting.
  • Construction Accounting Knowledge: Prior experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills to track cost variances and ensure compliance with project budgets.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel), Sage Intacct, and Timberscan Titanium (preferred but not required).
  • Adaptability: Willingness to start with AP data entry during the first few weeks before transitioning into full project accounting responsibilities.
  • Time Management: Ability to work within 8 AM - 6 PM CST to align with project schedules.

Required Experience & Skills


  • Education & Experience: Accounting degree/ 3-4 years of accounting experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in job cost accounting and/or construction accounting.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong experience with Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Sage Intacct and Timberscan Titanium is a plus.
  • Financial Management: Experience processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and handling project-related financial tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work with onsite project managers and external stakeholders.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?
Your day will start with reviewing project-related financials, processing invoices, and performing bank reconciliations. You’ll work closely with project managers in the field, ensuring financial accuracy and timely billing. In the initial weeks, you’ll primarily focus on AP data entry while getting trained in full project accounting. As you gain experience, you’ll take on cost variance analysis, compliance tracking, and managing construction-related billing and payments. Effective communication and collaboration with operations teams will be crucial to success in this role.
