Medical Officer - Haematology Oncology

Responsibilities


AKUH is in search of a Medical Officer for our Oncology team who will work under the supervision of the team's attending physician, actively participating in the overall care and coordination of patients. Under guidance of team members, you will be responsible to:


  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients before the administration of chemotherapy.
  • Enter chemotherapeutics in accordance with consultant advice to ensure precise and effective treatment.
  • Prescribe post-chemotherapy medications, providing essential support for patient recovery.
  • Order and monitor the transfusion of blood and blood products in accordance with consultant advice and institutional guidelines.
  • Participate in outpatient clinics and contribute to patient management under the supervision of an attending physician.
  • Ensure proper documentation in medical records, adhering to best practices in record-keeping.
  • Actively participate in Journal clubs and engage in continuous medical education to stay abreast of the latest developments in Haematology Oncology.
  • Staying updated on clinical practice guidelines, pathways, and hospital protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.Remaining vigilant about adherence to quality and infection control policies and practices during clinical practice.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • An MBBS degree along with a valid PMDC license and BLS certificate.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ relevant experience (proven experience in oncology or a related field is preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the attending physician and other members of the oncology team.
