As an international institution, AKU operates on the core principles of quality, relevance, impact, and access; and AKU is a model of academic excellence and an agent of social changeAKU is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to safeguarding and aims to adopt appropriate standards for safeguarding and promoting a respectful relationship with and between all faculty, staff, trainees, volunteers, beneficiaries, wider communities, and other stakeholders with whom it works, including children and vulnerable adults and expects all employees/trainees and partners to share this commitmentResponsibilities:Responsible for the Management of Mechanical, Plumbing Equipment, Plant, and Engineering Piping Network including providing assistance for energy conservation initiatives of his Department, Inventory Management, Technical Appraisal of New Equipment / Plant, and monitoring of Contracts.  Staff activities, their performance improvement initiatives setting Annual Goals for them, and monitoring of their efficiency and effectiveness.  As a manager, he will project budgets and monitor ongoing expenses.  Will take over new Buildings for operations and develop Maintenance Management Systems & Procedures in his area.Specifically, you will be responsible to:ensure the maintenance and efficient operation of all critical mechanical systems in the hospital, including patient care rooms mechanical equipment, sterilization equipment for medical tool disinfection, hospital laundry systems to maintain hygiene, medical waste incinerators for safe hazardous material disposal, kitchen equipment for hygienic and efficient food preparation, as well as pumping systems for water supply, and fire protection systems to ensure safety and compliance with healthcare standardsensure compliance with healthcare-specific standards like ASHRAE, NFPA, AHA, and other local regulations, andimplement annual operational and maintenance goals aligned with departmental objectives and KPI’sensure the operational efficiency and reliability of mechanical infrastructure across mixed-use developments, high-rises, and campuses, maintaining systems to meet safety, performance, and regulatory standardsdevelop energy-efficient strategies to reduce operating costs in a healthcare environmentplan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to avoid disruptions in critical production operationsleverage advanced diagnostic tools such as thermography and vibration analysis to identify and address potential issues proactivelyensure minimal downtime for critical systems in all operational environmentsimplement energy conservation measures across healthcare facilities without compromising operational requirementscollaborate with energy teams to optimize energy use and achieve measurable cost savingsdesign and implement sustainable practices aligned with green building certifications like LEED & EDGE RequirementsYou must have:B.E. Mechanical from recognized Govt. University8-12 years of MEP-related work experience including 4-5 years at the management level with Mechanical / Plumbing design knowledgeexcellent knowledge of all mechanical equipment/ services used in a large hospital, pharmaceutical or large industryenergy conservation-orientedknowledge of quality assurance of the industryPreventive maintenance and shutdown planning experiencegood communication and interpersonal skillsexcellent supervisory Skillsability to cope with stressteam leadership qualities to independently lead a multidiscipline team of Engineers
