Introduction:


Reporting to the Regional Director, University Advancement (UA), and working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, the suitable candidate will be responsible for raising major gifts by creating and maintaining relationships with prospective and current donors. You will also work closely with the UA team to develop and contribute to the overall marketing strategy of the Advancement Office. The Manager, Major Gifts will partner with diverse individuals, internally and externally, to meet department’s objectives. A member of a wider team of fundraising professionals, he/she will follow, implement and advance best practices in higher education fundraising.


Responsibilities:


You will be responsible for:


  • executing the annual fundraising plan
  • identifying prospective donors with help of research and volunteers
  • cultivating and soliciting from current and the prospective donors with the purpose of conducting solicitations for securing funds
  • forming strategic corporate relationships that are mutually beneficial
  • working closely with volunteers and with a team of professionals within UA office to ensure appropriate reporting and stewardship of assigned donors
  • making efforts to raise awareness of AKU about its programmes and augment fundraising efforts
  • assisting as required with operational activities of the department that may directly or indirectly impact fundraising initiatives
  • organising and coordinating donor discovery and cultivation events
  • traveling to AKU campuses in different regions within Pakistan, if required
  • preparing progress reports and record other information in the database to track the progress

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:


You should have:


  • a Master's degree or a 4-year Undergraduate degree, preferably in Business Administration or equivalent from an accredited university
  • a minimum of 7 years of experience (at least 4 years of fundraising experience)
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in English and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • an understanding of public and private fund development, annual campaign, budget management and special events production
  • the ability to be adaptable and creative to work with various organisations
  • creative and entrepreneurial approach to addressing complex issues
  • the ability to travel if required
