Job Role / Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Director, of Safety & Security, you will be responsible for Developing, reviewing, and updating the EHS and Fire Prevention plans, policies, and procedures in accordance with the intents of national and international rules and standards (e.g., KBCA Regulations and Standards of JCIA, NFPA, and OSHA)


  • supervising the work and performance of the EHS and Fire Prevention section
  • advising on all matters of EHS and Fire-Safety by keeping abreast of recent developments in related practices and standards
  • managing and administering a well-trained EHS and Fire-Safety staff to prevent accidents and avoid property loss
  • ensuring regular implementation of facility inspection and environmental rounds for hazard identification and control
  • carrying  out accident/incident investigations and assisting in preparing incident analysis reports
  • coordinating Construction Safety issues and implementation of Construction Safety programs in coordination with Design, Project, and Construction
  • participating in Annual Risk Analysis and Hazard Vulnerability Assessment exercises
  • maintaining close linkage with facilities Management with respect to fixed fire intimation and suppression systems
  • preparing safety awareness material including Safety Updates and Safety Posters
  • implementing the Safety Coordinators’ Program
  • implementing faculty/staff EHS and Fire-Safety Training, Drills, and Awareness Assessment programs through Safety Coordinators
  • liaising with the City Fire Brigade, Civil Defence, and other governmental and non-governmental agencies dealing with EHS and Life-Safety issues
  • participating in the annual budget preparation process and ensuring its regular monitoring
  • acting as departmental CQI and JCIA Coordinator

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements


  • candidate should have B.E. or M.Sc. (Preferably in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science)at least 12 to 14 years experience in a healthcare organization including 04 years in a commensurate supervisory role
  • lead auditor ISO 9001, OSHAS 18001
  • NEBOSH General Certification
  • ability to develop and implement Safety plans, guidelines and policies
  • good understanding and knowledge of local and international safety standards
  • Safety training/First Aid /CPR courses
  • certification in Quality management with a good understanding of developing/implementing Quality Management Systems
  • excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • proficient in the use of computer packages, especially MS Office
  • ability to work well in/with multidisciplinary teams
