As a Lead Data Engineer - Application Owner at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Data Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team to oversee the maintenance and operation of our software applications and infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, system administration, and regulatory compliance. The Application Owner will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to control procedures, obtaining regulatory approvals, maintaining application hygiene, and upholding financial discipline.


Job Responsibilities


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to the maintenance and operation of software applications and infrastructure systems.
  • Manage and prioritize the backlog of software and infrastructure tasks, including bug fixes, enhancements, and updates, in collaboration with stakeholders and development teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of incidents, FARM breaks, AOCOMMS, including troubleshooting technical issues and implementing preventive measures.
  • Implement best practices for software development, deployment, and infrastructure management, including automation, monitoring, and version control.
  • Collaborate with various teams to implement software upgrades, patches, and security enhancements in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Implement controls and safeguards to protect sensitive data, ensure data privacy, and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
  • Maintain application hygiene by managing dependencies, and technical debt, and conducting regular code reviews and quality assessments.
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders to implement various projects for understanding the data and reporting requirement.
  • Be results-oriented with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills 
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership potential
  • Have a proven ability to operate in a process-oriented environment, adhere to risk/control, procedure and process expectations, while appropriately delivering what’s best for the customer.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities


  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts with applied experience with Java 8 or above, Spring Framework (Security, Boot, REST).
  • Practical experience in problem solving, project management, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:


  • Experience with On-Prem to Cloud Migrations
  • Experience with SQL, Hadoop, AWS
