Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Instructor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery.


Job Role / Responsibilities:


The position will be reporting to the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Programme, School of Nursing and Midwifery. Moreover, you will be responsible for:


  • designing a comprehensive course grid that outlines the curriculum structure, teaching-learning, and assessment strategy along with class schedule
  • integrating concepts related to quantitative reasoning with patient care applications, ensuring a seamless connection between mathematical principles and nursing practice
  • developing and delivering lectures covering fundamental mathematical concepts relevant to nursing practice, focusing on clarity and practical application
  • innovating teaching methods by integrating basic mathematical concepts into drug and dosage calculations, and using scenarios and various teaching-learning strategies to enhance understanding
  • monitoring student progress through formative quizzes and mock tests, providing timely feedback to support continuous improvement
  • offering personalized guidance to students needing additional help with understanding mathematical concepts, ensuring individual academic support
  • developing grade exam papers in accordance with the entity’s assessment policies and procedures, ensuring fair and consistent evaluation
  • providing academic counseling to students on various matters, helping them navigate their educational journey effectively
  • actively participating in the day-to-day activities at the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) as a faculty member, contributing to the overall academic environment
  • engaging in program-related activities, meetings, and workshops, contributing to the continuous development and improvement of the program
  • serving as an advisor for undergraduate students, guiding them through their academic and professional development.

Requirements:


You should have:


  • a masters degree (MScN- with clinical expertise in Paediatric health Nursing is preferred /MSc in MPH, Epi Bio, HPM) with Basic Nursing qualification as mandatory (BScN/Post-RN, Diploma in Nursing)
  • a minimum of 3 years of clinical community experience including 2 years as a faculty and/or MScN/MPhil/MEd/MSc/in MPH, Epi
  • published at least one research paper in an Indexed Journal in the last 2 years
  • an ability to demonstrate clinical competence as a professional nurse and an effective role model
  • sound conceptual knowledge of nursing/field of specialization and ability to integrate theory into practice
  • a good teaching skills & knowledge of new teaching methodologies & practices
  • knowledge of current research methodologies, and an ability to initiate research
  • an ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with course participants
  • a good academic writing & presentation skills
  • fluency in English & Urdu and an ability to communicate in other regional languages would be an advantage
  • proficiency in the use of computers and related computer software packages
  • a good conceptual and analytical skills
  • knowledge of educational leadership and management
  • planning & organizing skills
  • excellent interpersonal skills & ability to work with teams
  • commitment to learning and growth, and pursue improvement.
