Overview To manage and control daily and weekly (per shift) demand requirements within the manufacturing environment on a shift basis in such a way that it drives cost, quality and efficiency. Responsibilities • The management of safe operations and quality product through continual monitoring of the line performance: • Assess machinery, equipment and shop floor for proper operation, eliminating all safety risks and get it rectified through maintenance support, if it malfunctions. • Eliminate avoidable accidents and improve plant safety performance. • Ensure that periodic quality checks are performed and rectify if out of control. • Produce product of the highest quality at the lowest possible cost • Effective utilisation of labour hours to maximise product yields and minimise waste and breakage • Ensure effective deployment of staff across all lines to maximise productivity. • Ensure adequate staffing, direction, and discipline as per PI guidelines. • Maximise quality cases produced per hour without compromising on quality and cost. • Accurately compile and analyse daily production line reports in a timely manner • Evaluate equipment downtime during a shift and raise timely work orders for rectification of problems. • Achieve the production compliance • Complete weekly cost and KPI reports and share with their teams. • Extend support for preventive maintenance and completion of shut down jobs in timely manner, keeping in view the production plan. • Maintain all housekeeping and safety standards • Ensure all raw materials and full goods are properly stored and protected • Improve plant audit performance and work environment to AIBI and IPS standards • Direct supervisory staff in identifying and correcting any unsafe conditions • Support other functions to implement quality and HSE standards as laid down by PI guidelines. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY: • The jobholder makes decisions that influence daily & weekly production requirements. • Decides on required headcount per shift as per PI stipulation • The jobholder balances efficiency and quality buckets Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering or Food Science. • Minimum 5 years FMCG experience with 2 years supervisory or team lead role The Front line Manager must possess a very high level of skills and have a clear set of personal attributes in the following areas: • Ability to identify an opportunity, assess the situation then develop and implement a process to address that opportunity. • Technical understanding of high-speed manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of quality control standards and techniques. • Knowledge of company policies, programmes and regulatory requirements. • Interpersonal and Managerial Skills shall include the following: • Relevant qualification in Production Management or equivalent. • Information Systems: Has the ability to document and track information and understand production systems, e.g. Schedules, Production Requirements and Compliance • Safety Awareness: Ensure awareness to personal and other’s safety in area of responsibility. • Successfully works with others in a Management role: Quality, Facilities, Engineering, Raw Materials Stores and Distribution. • Interpersonal Effectiveness (Competencies) – strong communication skills, builds relationships, team leadership and alignment, has respect for others, drive for results, analytical thinking. • Team leader and strong people manager.
