About the job Exploration Geologist

Position: Exploration Geologist


Location: Reko Diq SITE - Balochistan


Qualification:


  • Geologist-Engineer degree
  • Post graduate degree, desirable.

Experience:


  • At least 2 years of experience in exploration.
  • Experience in gold-copper exploration.

Requirements:


  • Knowledge about the types of hydrothermal alteration and distribution/zoning in gold-silver epithermal deposits, copper-gold and copper-molybdenum porphyries.
  • Knowledge about conceptual geological models of gold-silver and copper-gold, copper-molybdenum porphyry-epithermal mineral deposits.
  • Knowledge about Leapfrog, ArcGisPro.
  • Knowledge about geophysical methods and their application, such as CSAMT, IP-resistivity, among others.
  • Knowledge about safety, health, environmental standards and communities.

Responsibilities:


  • Contributing with his knowledge to the identification and evaluation of new exploration opportunities in Pakistan, in compliance with the company's strategic priorities.
  • Participating in the generation of projects or New Exploration Opportunities (NEO), in the assessment of properties and/or advanced exploration projects that pose opportunities for the discovery of a Tier 1 or Tier 2 gold or copper-gold deposit for the company.
  • Developing and conducting exploration programs through the pipeline of exploration projects, mainly during the project generation and target delineation of the resource triangle stages.
  • Executing and overseeing in the field the development of exploration programs, ensuring and requiring the application of good practices in the capturing and management of geological data; making sure that all data collected and interpreted is stored in the company's database with the corresponding metadata, and that it is permanently updated.
  • Assuring the delivery of technical and geological information resulting from exploration projects according to the standards required by the geoinformatics department.
  • Assuring the integration of geological, geochemical and geophysical information in order to define pragmatic and robust exploration programs.
  • Preparing written reports and presentations on technical visits and progress reports at the closing of exploration seasons in English, including conclusions and recommendations.
  • Conducting technical visits to other projects/sites and preparing technical reports.
  • Generating and/or requesting technical visits and explorations season reports drafted by the Technical Team.
  • Promoting the dissemination and the application of advanced geoscientific knowledge among the team members and organizing learning instances on the exploration of mineralized systems.
  • Generating a continuous improvement culture based on the application of good business practices required by the company from the exploration works.
  • Promoting and maintaining a proactive and respectful interaction with direct reports (graduate geologists), encouraging teamwork in a 360° collaborative environment.
  • Supervising and organizing multidiscipline teams to ensure a timely and correct execution of the exploration programs in all the stages of the pipeline.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating the objective, program and progress status of the project; its implications especially for other company areas.
  • Responsible for the financial management of the projects in order to execute them in the budget.
  • Helping with the activities aimed at ensuring that the projects have obtained the necessary permits for their correct development.
  • Meeting and enforcing the Health and Safety System standards, promoting a risk prevention culture based on visible leadership with commitment.
  • Meeting and enforcing the provisions of the Code of Conduct, Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption policy, Barrick's Policy on Human Rights and what is set forth in the legislation, especially the processes referring to Conflicts of interest, relationships and interaction with government officials, payments to government officials/government entities, Vendor Onboarding and reporting of any situation relating to non-compliance with those instruments.
  • Meeting and enforcing the Environmental Management System policies and procedures, and the environmental commitments undertaken by the Company; promoting a culture that takes care of the Environment.
  • Meeting and enforcing Community Relations policies and procedures, encouraging the respectful treatment of neighboring communities in order to promote a Community Development Culture.
