About Us:

Markaz is on the mission to supercharge the rails of e-commerce for the common man in Pakistan. We want to empower the Pakistani middle class, with a special focus on women who are currently not part of the Pakistani financial ecosystem, and help establish hundreds of thousands of new online entrepreneurs in the coming years. We enable anyone in Pakistan to start their online business with zero investment from the comfort of their home and make money by selling products through different social media channels like WhatsApp and Facebook. All they have to do is download the Markaz app, get access to 1,000s of products, share them on their social media with a profit margin and get orders. Markaz will take care of everything else: delivery, payments, customer experience and profit dissemination.

Job Overview:

As a Data Engineer, you will be working in various stages of the data analytics lifecycle, including pipeline development and maintenance. We are looking for a team player with a bias towards action and who can tell it like it is. We’d like someone with a keen eye toward diagnosing and fixing problems with our data pipelines and modeling data to meet data science and business requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain efficient and reliable data warehouses to store and manage large datasets.
• Work closely with data analysts, product, engineering and data scientists to understand and deliver on data needs.
• Build efficient and reliable data pipelines from the scratch to transport data across a number of platforms.
• Communicate, at scale, through presentations, dashboards, company-wide datasets, bots and more.
• Use your data and analytics experience in identifying and addressing gaps in our existing data logging processes.
• Foster data expertise and own data quality.
• Establish a single source of truth to ensure company wide compliance of insight and data sanity.
  

Skills and Experience Needed:

• 1+ years of experience in working with data engineering, establishing and owning data pipelines.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  
• Experience with Cloud Platforms such as AWS and GCP.
  
• Experience with data modeling and data warehousing.
• Prior experience in custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
• NoSQL Experience such as MongoDB, DynamoDB
• Ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements
  
• Great communication and collaborative abilities.
