The Aga Khan University’s Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) was established in the year 2020 to serve as a University-wide entity for providing a unique platform for facilitating strategic engagements and partnerships between AKU, University of Central Asia and the wider Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IGHD aims to address global health and environmental challenges by creating a multi-disciplinary support system and infrastructure, whereby researchers across campuses and regions can collaborate and contribute.
The IGHD works across four thematic areas, including Sustainable Development Goals (including Broad Social Determinants of Health); Gender Equity and Empowerment; Climate Change, Urban Development, and Health, and; Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition.

Responsibilities:
The Data Coordinator will be responsible for managing and evaluating big datasets, such as large satellite data and other climate/environmental agencies data pertaining to pollutants and the climate. To serve the research goals of the laboratory, this position incorporates the coordination and synthesis of data analysis projects. The specific responsibilities include the following:
- being responsible for the collection, storage, and analysis of data for every laboratory project
- examining satellite and other environmental data to help the lab's projects on pollution tracking and climate change
- ensuring that the most recent approaches are used while implementing and maintaining software and tools for data analysis
- collaborating with external organizations to manage current data resources and obtain new data sets
- ensuring adherence to security and privacy policies for data
- prioritize data analysis projects according to the availability of resources and the requirements of the research
- identify and fix issues concerning the analysis and quality of data
- determine the most effective way to display data and organize reports to stakeholders by making strategic decisions
- manage the digital tools and resources required for efficient data storage and analysis
- manage the budget for data-related costs, including purchasing software and acquiring data
- generate regular and spontaneous reports that provide an overview of trends and analyses of study data
- verify that all data management procedures follow the safety and confidentiality guidelines of the laboratory
- encourage the team to understand safety and data security
Requirements:
The incumbent should have:
- at least a Bachlor's or equivalent degree in Environmental Sciences, Data Science, computer sciences, Geoinformatics, Statistics, or related fields
- strong background in data analysis and statistical methods
- minimum 3–5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within an environmental or climate research setting
- experience in handling big datasets, including satellite imagery and environmental data
- proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python) and database management
- proficiency in data analysis and administration
- excellent analytical abilities, including the capacity to generate reports and visualisations
- skilled in remote sensing and GIS software
- strong organisational abilities and the skill to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- strong writing and vocal communication abilities
