Job Role / Responsibilities:


You are expected to evaluate patients applying for welfare/Behbud as to their eligibility for Welfare/Behbud assistance and grant welfare/Behbud or recommend to the Patient Welfare Manager/Assistant Manager the amount of assistance for those who qualifies.


Specifically, you will be responsible to;


  • assess Welfare/Behbud applicants’ eligibility for assistance in their medical treatment expenses at AKUH, as per the Hospital Welfare Policies and Procedures, by interviewing the patients and their families and undertaking and investigation if required with the assistance of the Credit and Collection Department
  • approved welfare support based on the authority matrix and as per the Welfare Policies and   Procedures and recommend to superior office or the Patient Welfare Manager/Asst. Manager welfare support amounts based on the patient’s economic status and cost of treatment and availability of welfare funds
  • follow up with attending physicians on an on-going basis regarding the prognosis and future treatment required.  Ensuring that hospitalization costs remain within original estimates, and appraise Department Manager when variances occur
  • follow up with patients’ families for payment of their component and apprise them of any change in treatment costs and revised welfare support decision, if any on account of extended stay or treatment protocol
  • co-ordinate with admitting physicians when in doubt about treatment indicated and/or length of stay given, for patients applying for welfare assistance, before taking decision on extent of welfare allocation
  • call patients for follow-up

Qualifications:


  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree (Preferably in any Social Sciences or related subject)
  • Minimum two years of experience with and NGO or social welfare organization.
  • Should be computer literate
  • A good judge of character; good communicator and a team Player
  • Knowledge of regional languages will be an added advantage
