What is Category Procurement Manager Active Networks?
This role revolves around Procurement of Acitve Networks (RAN & CORE) Hardware/Software/Services. The candidate would be required to have ample knowledge and understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G Networks and can visualize the future of the category. The candidate will be required to prepare and drive the category strategy (short and long term). Help team to grow and uplift their skill set to achieve short and long term goals.
The role reports directly to Head of Direct Procurement.
What does Category Procurement Manager Active Networks do?
Plan and formulate procurement requirements from different stakeholders:
- Based on the Contract Landscape, prepare a strategy for short term and long term.
- Analyze requests and collaborates with relevant stakeholders to devise relevant solutions/sourcing plan.
- Negotiate with vendors for procuring goods or services as per received requirements.
- Foster healthy relationship with vendors and resolves any queries/issues within specified timelines.
- Collaborate with contract management team to finalize draft of legal contract with vendors.
- Liaison with Service Operations for timely issuance of Purchase Orders.
- Exhibit Business oriented and customer-centric mindset.
Indepth knolwdge of the domain:
- The Category Manager will be required to lead the team based on his/her Technology knowledge and experience relatd to RAN/CORE and related telecom standards.
- Having deep understanding of technology will enable the Category Manager to drive the category, prepare Analysis and also discuss and negotiate with Suppliers on the requirements of Jazz. Moreover, the Category Manager will also be able to discuss and flourish requirements with the internal key stakeholders.
Develop Active Category Strategy:
- The strategy will be addressing the needs of the category in relationship to market trends, new technology and team skillset development.
- The strategy will focus on Sourcing methodologies and strategies for each segment in line with the Procurement transformation objectives.
- Develop a comprehensive cost optimization plan for the category, this will include plan to rationalize and optimize the existing supplier base
- Develop synergies through consolidation of business needs and scope across multiple business units.
- Develop a growth mindet in the team for support to business and also self idendtification of improvement areas in their respective domain.
Develop a Procurement Master Plan in his/her domain:
- In collaboration with relevant stakeholders prepare a detailed view of Procurement Master Plan (Souring Calendar) with clear working of budget, baseline and targeted costs.
- Tracking of Projects/Tasks on daily, weekly and monthly basis on a digital portal/dashboard.
Major Procurement Projects:
- The Category Manager will be required to work on Major Procurement projects in a calendar year apart from operational work in the category.
- This will require the Category Manager to build his/her team and also guide the teams to achieve the required targets, while working in a project environment. Good Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will be required.
Procurement Diagnostics for the Category:
- Based on the commitments issued in two (2) quarters, prepare a thorough category diagnostics which can be used to prepare comprehensive strategy of the Category. This will become a ready reference for all our procurement category project pipeline and optimization targets planning and analysis.
Vendor Relationship Management Program in Active Domain:
- One of the responsibility of the Category Manager will be to execute the Vendor relationship program, which is already in place with streatgic suppliers. The meetings will be scheduled on quarterly, semi annual and annual basis with strategic suppliers. Moreover, the Category Manager will evaluate and increase the participating vendors in the VRM program.
Strategic Thinking:
- A requirement from Category Manager will be to inculcate strategic thinking in his/her team with a business mindet prospective. This will be part of his/her team engagements and dedicated time will be allocated on atleast monthly basis.
Develop Vendor Assessment and Scoring criteria:
- Plan, develop, and execute the project (Complete RFP/Q Lifecycle).
- Preparation of complete commercial evaluation (TCO) and QES comprising of techno-commercial.
- BOQ Alignments against the Frame Agreements.
- Prepare Bulk purchase agreements and maintain catalogue-based PO issuance.
- Price verifications and Negotiations.
- Preparing of Dashboard and KPI reporting on weekly basis
- Keep record of the savings as per assigned ambitions in the organization.
Prepare a Negotiation Strategy for bids that fall under complex category:
- Build a strong relationship with End User and be able to translate their requirements into procurement plans.
- Conduct budget analysis with team and prepare reports inclusive of spending/saving, shares with management and explains rationale behind it.
- Thorough market research
- Preparing monthly and YTD spend & saving report.
- Conducting an interactive sourcing process along with end user and external stakeholders.
- Achieving savings target as mentioned in the agreed tender mandate.

Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Category Procurement Manager Active Networks?
- MBA/B.S/B.E/BSc-Engg IT/Telecom/SW with 5~7 years of relevant experience in Mobile Network/Technology Procurement.
- Preference will be give to prior working in a Technology related role (preferably in a Mobile Operator/Vendor) with clear understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G Technology network elements and vendor market.
- Analytical, modelling and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
- Being part of a Sourcing team in a reputable organization the candidate must have good experience of negotiating contracts and well versed with global best practices.
- Negotiation skills, conflict and vendor management skills. Able to manage internal stakeholders.
- Candidate should have team management role in his/her experience with good work ethics of managing a team, problem solving, planning and organizing skills.
- Knowledge and roadmaps of 2G/3G/4G/5G and Technology progression.
- Network/Technology procurement process knowledge.
- Vendor market and industry knowledge.
- ERP Systems, Microsoft Office/Excel, Oracle ESS-Fusion, SAP Ariba, share-point, Think cell and PBI etc.
