Associate – Reception

Introduction to the Aga Khan University:


The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan.


The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Responsibilities:


You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the customer service function within the clinical laboratory, ensuring the efficient execution of the following tasks:


  • Supervise reception counters and ensures that clinical lab policies are adhered to on daily basis
  • Coordinate activities of the reception area with the other sections of clinical lab to ensure smooth operations & excellent customer services
  • To ensure smooth operations efficiently manage inventories of consumables required for patient care & services as per the protocols and guidelines
  • Provide necessary assistance at the reception area by checking and processing lab tests requests, providing lab test information to patient, handling over of reports to the concerned
  • Conduct regular training to reception staff on service excellence, departmental policies & protocols to ensure quality services are provided to patients and other customers
  • Monitor the performance of all staff handling cash to ensure that it conforms to the revenue collection & cash sharing protocols. Generate audit reports to ensure compliance & share any discrepancies with Manager.
  • Responsible for monitoring of reception counter quality & safety indicators and take preventive actions
  • Any other duty or responsibility assigned by Manager, Clinical Lab
  • Ensure compliance of CAP & JCIA standards

Requirements:


You should have:


  • Bachelor / Masters Preferred
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience at a reputable laboratory or hospital
  • 5-6 years of relevant experience at Clinical Laboratory, AKUH
  • thorough knowledge of Laboratory testing procedures
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving skills & decision-making capabilities
  • Administrative capabilities
