You will be responsible for overseeing the procurement activities of the University Hospital to ensure the availability of all essential items while managing costs, inventory, and supplier relationships. This role involves strategic planning, market research, category management, and ensuring compliance with purchasing policies. The incumbent will also support AKU and other AKDN group entities in obtaining standard prices and extending purchasing contracts.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- responsible for procurement of assigned categories/products/projects. This includes managing quality, price, cost of ownership, service, delivery and other commercial aspects of procurement as well as undertaking marketing intelligence studies to ensure cost effective purchasing decisions
- monitor inventory level on regular basis to ensure availability of items as per needs. Simultaneously, continuously try to achieve high fill-rate while reduction in inventory holding, as well as transportation costs
- evaluate vendors’ performance to ensure that vendor consistently meet institutional requirements for timely deliveries, quality, service and price
- ensure compliance with institutional procurement procedures and ethical supply chain management conduct thereby maintaining complete transparency in all purchasing decisions
- understand key customer expectation and monitor performance through measurable and objective performance indicator
- review, approve and issues purchase orders in accordance with institution policy
- responsible for planning and buying supplies, material, parts, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective way, while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications
- maintain transparency in all purchase decision.
Requirements:
- master’s degree (Preferably in Supply Chain) OR 16 Years of Education
- professional certification in procurement or supply chain management or technical field
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory and vendor management preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting
- strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory management, and cost control
- excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
- attention to detail and organizational skills
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- knowledge of market dynamics and supplier management.
