The Role


This is a position in part of the International Content Accounting team, whose primary role includes the accounting for Content related with Turner operations in APAC region


General Summary:


Daily activities


• Position performs and is responsible for various program accounting duties including maintenance of the content assets, prepayments and liabilities


• Timely processing of contracts to ensure assets, liabilities and expenses related with them are accurate


• Recording journal entries in order to track and account for content production costs


• Responding to vendor queries which would include investigation of invoices and contractual arrangements (if needed)


• Management of certain I/C transactions and reconciliations to make sure that they are properly reflected in consolidated financial statements


• preparation of schedules needed to deliver financial statements notes


• Supporting the internal/external audit process by submitting necessary requests


• Supporting IT Department, GPO and other stakeholders in the ERP upgrade project in the area of content assets (e.g. taking part in UAT tests).


• Ad hoc assignments as required by management


Month end activities


• Supporting month end close activities


• Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations for content assets and liabilities - investigation and resolution of any anomalies


• Set up and maintain content projects (cost centres)


• Demonstrate and maintain high standards of accountability to deliver superior quality financial information on timely basis to Manager


Controls and Procedures


• Continuous improvement and development of processes, controls and reporting


• Support development of systems, tools, and processes to facilitate efficient and accurate analysis


• Ensure SOX compliance and appropriate administration and documentation for the International Content Accounting function, including liaison with internal and external auditors


• Thorough documentation of controls and processes


Other requirements


• 5+ years accounting experience, ideally within a large multinational corporation


• Good understanding of financial accounting principles of US GAAP/IFRS


• Previous experience in accounting for Fixed Assets will be a plus


• Candidate needs to be fluent in English as all the work will be performed in this language


• Good communication and interpersonal skills particularly with non-Finance personnel


• Proven ability to build confidence and trust with team members and external business partners


• Ability to work across multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines


• Team player with a strong interest in Television/Media sector will be an asset


• Motivated by a challenging, high-energy environment


• Experience working with Excel (intermediate/advanced)


• Good understanding of a range of financial systems, including SAP/PeopleSoft


• Degree educated with accounting/finance focus
