Job Role / Responsibilities:


You will be responsible of overseeing the entire planning, Inspections, and monitoring of main campus civil maintenance activities along with the minor projects and making sure everything runs smoothly, ensure all construction activities are properly handed over with a complete punch listing process, make sure proper supervision and coordination for the activities of technical staff, as appropriate to the needs. Oversees and plans the facility's safe and effective repairs and upkeep while making sure that AKUH policies and standards are followed. You will be responsible for preparation of technical & financial comparative statements along with the aassisting your supervisor for preparation of budget requirement and ensure to control its variances for cost effective operations within the area of responsibility This includes contract monitoring, inventory management, and technical appraisal of new equipment and assets. Staff’s activities, initiatives for performance improvement, annual goals set for them, and effectiveness and efficiency monitoring of all your reports (staff). Together with the outreach AKUH team's coordination, make sure to create a maintenance management system and procedures and take over new buildings for operations. Particularly looking in the delivery of planned, reactive, regular and emergency maintenance and support activities in terms of agreed response times or planned schedules of main campus along with the outreach facilities of AKUH including Phlebotomy centres, Stat Labs, IMS, Medical Centre, Secondary Hospitals, IED, CMS. This also includes the minor & major tasks with coordination of main outreach team (if required).


 Other responsibilities will include:


  • To communicate with staff at all levels including subordinates, consultants, contractors, clinical / health care staff and other stakeholders for an efficient delivery of Civil related work
  • Prepare self-development plan in coordination with line supervisors to overcome short come and effective utilization
  • Develop SMART annual operational goals of the department in view of the overall strategic goals of the division including the resources needed to execute the plan.
  • Administers and supervises the maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the C&G related tasks & provides appropriate documentation of it. 
  • Cordinating all the assigned tasks that the maintenance team, outside contractors, and other stakeholders are jointly involved 
  • Maintain compliance with JCIA, ISO 9001, ISO 2015 & safe care standards and regulatory 
  • Coordinate with FMD teams for better prospects wrt optimum utilization of staff for different joint operations. 
  • Preparation of Civil work programs (PPM, etc) and communicating with all relevant stakeholders of the planned work 
  • Prepare cost estimates for the activities and monitoring and controlling of cost to complete works within budget 
  • Schedule and supervises maintenance repair works, alterations, renovations (EU) and minor construction works and timely delivering of any assigned task. 
  • Develop smart annual operational goals of the department in view of the overall strategic goals of the division including the resources needed to execute the plan 
  • Orientation of new employees and continuing education of department employees in the approach of repair maintenance of C&G related tasks.  Instruct personnel regarding hazards and safety to ensure safe procedures and safe use of equipment (PPE’s). 
  • Responsible for carpentry, painting and masonry works and minor construction projects for the entire campus. 
  • Preparation of technical & financial comparative statements in accord of the compliance of outsourcing policy 
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement form (CQI) 
  • Regular Inspection of the campus facilities 
  • Coordinate Safety and Security department for fire and safety measures on the campus,  
  • Effective inventory management of spares and consumables 
  • To assist Senior Manager C&G & outreach in budget & planning process and regular monitoring of expenses 
  • Safety practices should be ensured 
  • Report to Senior Manager C&G & Outreach, regarding condition of facility & update status of work in progress.
  • Meets other colleagues to discuss current issues, upcoming events & development related issues. 
  • Respond to all emergency situations and take appropriate action utilizing established procedures and protocols. 

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:


  • B.E. Civil from Govt. recognized institute. Computer knowledge is preferred
  • 6 to 8 years of civil work related experience along with supervisory capabilities.
  • Project management/Planning & scheduling of any task would be count as additional. proficient in computer knowledge
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to supervise & train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, & scheduling work assignments
  • Ability to cope with stress
  • Team leadership qualities to independently lead a multidiscipline technical teams
  • Ability to take initiative & to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to develop & maintain record keeping systems and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
