Your New Role:
As a Residuals Application Developer, you will be responsible for developing, testing, deploying and optimization of application that process and manage residuals in the entertainment industry.  You will also be responsible for maintenance of application built on Java and DB2 and hosted on AWS cloud. You will collaborate with senior developers, QA teams, and business analysts to ensure seamless application functionality and system enhancements.




Your Role Accountabilities:



Application Development and Enhancements



  • Design, develop, and implement residuals application components using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.



  • Enhance existing systems by adding new features, optimizing performance, and addressing technical debt.



  • Implement robust backend systems to handle complex calculations for guild agreements and contract-based payments.



  • Write clean, modular, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.



Application Support



  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of residuals applications.



  • Troubleshoot and resolve application bugs, data inconsistencies, and system outages.



  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions to minimize recurring issues.



Test



  • Work closely with business analysts, QA teams, and product managers to gather requirements and clarify technical specifications.



  • Write and execute unit tests – both manual and automated tests 



  • Perform integration testing and debugging 



  • Participate in sprint planning sessions, stand-ups, and team retrospectives to align development efforts with business priorities.



Deploy



  • Build, Configure and test continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines



  • Review and analyze build and deployment logs



  • Monitor and troubleshoot deployment issues across all the environments



Learning & Improvement



  • Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve system efficiency and scalability.



  • Explore advancements in cloud computing, containerization, and security to modernize infrastructure.



  • Implement proof-of-concept (PoC) projects to evaluate potential system upgrades.



  • Attend in-person/online-trainings/conferences to improve skills




Qualifications & Experiences:



  • 2-4 years of experience in Java development with advanced knowledge of Java 8+, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate. (media, entertainment, business development or streaming services industry experience a plus)



  • 2-4years of production support or software development experience in building software applications using Java, DB2 and AWS



  • 2-4 years of hands-on implementation or operational experience with Residuals and/or Music Royalty payments



  • Strong Hands-on experience with relational databases (DB2, Oracle) and writing SQL queries



  • Handson experience in developing solutions on AWScloud platforms 



  • Strong experience with messaging systems AWS SQS and RESTful APIs.



  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies and version control systems such as Git and CICD pipelines



  • Strong understanding of Software development life cycles, including design, development, testing and deployment



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field



  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail



  • Certifications in Java or AWS is a plus



  • Excellent written and verbal communication



  • Work collaboratively w/small teams



  • Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently
