Job Description
The Well Engineer is the single point of responsibilityfor all design, planning, programming, execution and review of all well activities on their allocated rigs to ensure that cost and technical operational requirements are met. This position will be allocated the more complex, high profile, high risk and high-cost rig activities.
Will be supporting single or multi-rig operations to deliver Wells within the planned time, cost and HSE targets by using optimum technology / best practices without compromising established company policies and HSE standards. Will implement all lessons learned from offset wells;contribute to performance analysis and improvement, target setting and external bench-marking.
RequirementsEXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
- Engineering degree, or equivalent.
- At least 5 Years, preferably 7+ years relevant experience in E&P in well engineering with knowledge of well planning, well design, well programming and well construction including completions.
- Deep drilling experience is a must have for this post
- Valid well control (IWCF) certificates and stuck pipe prevention training.
- Good oral and written Technical English capability (communication skills)
- Fully conversant with Well Planning software, directional drilling and horizontal well operations with a proven HSE and Operational leadership abilities in onshore oilfield operations.
REPORTING:The Well Engineer will report to Senior Well Engineer.
LOCATION:The job is categorized as Muscat base, on permanent bases. Due to the operational nature of the role it is required to be available on call at any time of day or night mid-week and undertake weekend work as part of the weekend duty roster
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: The Well engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible to contribute to relevant drilling, intervention and completion programs. As required, develop or adapt suitable Basis of Design.
- Responsible to ensure for all Wells activities that equipment elements are compatible, on-time, and inspected as needed for successful installation.
- Provide Bench-marking data to assist performance monitoring and target setting. Develop understanding within block of what would be 4th, 3rd, 2nd and top Quartile performance.
- Maintain and control the availability and quality of the services and equipment provided under the various services contracts.
- Support the Drilling Manager to manage relevant operations from office. Includes weekend duties.
- Ensure that all objectives of the well are achievable within the agreed program time constraints and budget. KPI: Actual/Planned cost within AFE.
- Provide support and information to the rig site Drilling Supervisor on drilling, completion, work-over, abandonment and all matters related to the operations of a rig.
- Monitor work delivered and associated costs daily.
- Responsible and ensures that the most cost-effective techniques and equipment are available on site.
- Support change in operations or designs as outlined in the well program under proper Management of change, as required to achieve the well objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements and company’s minimum standards.
- Manage the definition and specification of all permanent well drilling and completion equipment.
- Create all necessary reports to support operation and ensure timely availability of personnel, equipment and services (look-ahead, etc)
- Establish and administer drilling and service contracts and maintain lines of communication at all times between management and the location
- Conduct audits of rig operations and processes and report to the management drilling and related operations along with the progress, problems, and incremental expenditure and safety issues.
- Ensure daily rig operations reports are submitted on time with valuable data represents the actual operations on rig site.
