Job Description

What is STEM IT?


STEM IT is our new five-year Professional Development Program customized for Professionals who are interested in developing their career in STEM roles (Manufacturing, Quality & HSE, Project Services and Installation, IT, Supply Chain, R&D).

Key Responsibilities:


1. Testing & Analysis


  • Conduct a range of polymer-related tests, including tensile strength, TGA, MFI, oxygen index, temperature index, smoke density, ageing, and UV exposure tests, to assess material durability.
  • Support other cable-related tests, including arranging spare parts and maintaining test readiness.
  • Prepare technical documents, organize calibration schedules, and update testing protocols as needed.
  • Monitor, record, and analyze test data, identifying deviations and trends to ensure compliance with performance benchmarks.

2. Equipment & Maintenance:


  • Operate and calibrate sophisticated laboratory equipment
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed during testing

3. Compliance & Documentation:


  • Ensure that all testing processes comply with relevant international standards (IEC, ISO, ASTM, BS etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all test procedures, results, and analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed technical reports for internal and external use.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in testing methods and laboratory operations.
  • Failure analysis knowledge, and proficiency in MS office

4. Collaboration & Support:


  • Collaborate with R&D engineers, Quality teams, and production teams to provide data and insights on test results.
  • Support the development of new cable products by providing critical testing data.
  • Assist in training junior technicians and support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Technology, or a related field.


Experience:


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a cable testing laboratory or similar environment.
  • Hands-on experience with various polymer related tests.
  • Experience working with relevant international standards (IEC, ASTM, ISO, BS).

Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in operating laboratory testing equipment used in cable testing
  • Strong understanding of material properties, especially related to electrical insulation and fire-resistant materials.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical data and produce detailed reports.
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols in cable testing environments.

Soft Skills:


  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills to work in a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
