Job Description
Spatial Planning Engineering
- Create and develop master
plans for new proposed development areas, ensuring they address current and
future needs, integrate various land uses, and promote sustainable growth.
- Regularly update and
maintain the Sohar Port and Freezone master plans to reflect changes in demand,
expansions, and development plans, ensuring that all spatial planning
activities remain aligned with the approved master plan.
- Investigate the feasibility
of accommodating new industries within Sohar Port and Freezone areas from a
spatial planning and utilities capacity perspective.
- Coordinate with various
stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulations and best international
planning and zoning practices.
- Design and implement land
use strategies and policies that optimize the use of space in a sustainable and
efficient manner.
- Collaborate with government
agencies, developers, consultants, and Sohar Port and Freezone internal
departments to gather input and ensure alignment with company vision.
- Ensure that all planning
activities and proposals comply with short-term and long-term organization
objectives.
- Develop detailed reports,
proposals, and presentations to communicate planning strategies, project
progress, and recommendations to stakeholders and Sohar Port and Freezone
management.
- Oversee planning projects
from inception to completion, including budget management, scheduling, and
coordination of resources.
- Assess the environmental
impact of proposed developments and land use changes, and recommend mitigation
measures as needed.
- Track the progress of
implemented plans and projects, evaluate their effectiveness, and make
necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
- Conduct comprehensive
utilities studies with the Utility team (e.g., electricity, water, natural gas,
industrial gases) to ensure alignment with Sohar Port and Freezone development
and expansions.
- Establish cooperative
coordination and interaction with all internal and external interfaces;
coordinate with service providers, government bodies, and future tenants to
support effective unit operations.
- Design and issue rights of
way, Krookies, and spaces required for different developments in the areas
under SIP management.
- Manage projects assigned to the department by preparing tender documents,
technical drawings, evaluations, and supervision in line with defined standards
to support successful achievement of unit objectives.

- Participate in the
identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability
of systems, processes and practices taking into account global best standards,
productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Team Supervision
- Provide guidance and on the
job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate achievement
of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner which is
consistent with operating procedures and policy.
Budgets and Plans
- Monitor the financial
performance of a given area of activity versus budgets and ensure all
activities are carried out in line with the approved guidelines while promptly
reporting on any variances to management.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Provide inputs and implement
policies, systems and procedure for the assigned section so that all relevant
procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality,
cost-effective service. Day-To-Day Operations
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
- Ensure compliance to all
relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and
controls within a defined area of activity to guarantee employee safety,
compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible
environmental attitude.
Statement and Reports
- Prepare sectional statements and reports timely and
accurately to meet SIP Group and department requirements, policies and
standards.
RequirementsMinimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s
degree in Spatial Planning, Urban Planning, Industrial Planning or relevant discipline.
Minimum Experience & Skills
- 2 years of experience in Spatial Planning, Urban Planning, Land use
planning, or related fields.
- Project management skills.
- High communicational skills.
- Analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to work with government entities and
stakeholders to gather input and address concerns.
