Job Summary The Security Officer is responsible to safeguard people, property, and assets within a designated area, ensuring a safe and secure environment. They are responsible for preventing unauthorized access, deterring criminal activity, and responding to emergencies. Security Officers may work in various settings such as office buildings, retail stores, hospitals, educational institutions, or event venues. Their primary goal is to maintain order, enforce regulations, and protect individuals and property from theft, vandalism, or other threats. Additionally, they may conduct patrols, monitor surveillance cameras, and provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees as needed. Overall, the job purpose of a Security Officer is to uphold safety and security standards and mitigate risks to ensure the well-being of people and assets under their care.
Job Responsibilities 1 Patrol designated areas to detect and deter unauthorized activity, ensuring the security and safety of premises.
Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems to identify and respond to security breaches or suspicious behavior.
Enforce property rules and regulations, including access control procedures, visitor policies, and parking regulations.
Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, or security threats, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of individuals.
Conduct security screenings, such as bag checks or metal detector scans, to prevent the introduction of prohibited items into the premises.
Provide assistance and support to visitors, employees, and contractors, including directing them to appropriate locations, answering inquiries, and addressing concerns.
Prepare and maintain accurate incident reports, detailing security-related incidents, observations, and actions taken.
Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency services, and other security personnel to coordinate responses to security incidents or emergencies.
Conduct regular inspections of security equipment and facilities to ensure proper functioning and identify any maintenance or repair needs.
Stay updated on security procedures, protocols, and industry trends, participating in training programs and professional development opportunities as required.
