Jumeirah Muscat Bay Resort lies 15 minutes south of the city centre and 40 minutes from Seeb International Airport. The overall development will include a 1,200 square meters Talise Spa, a diving centre, a wide range of sports and leisure facilities, a selection of restaurants, bars and cafes and a kids club. The resort will also include conference and banquet facilities to cater for Oman’s growing attraction as a destination for conferences, meetings and large-scale events. The resort forms part of a larger development that includes 300 high-end residential townhouses and villas, taking advantage of some of the most beautiful, unspoilt coastline in the Middle East.


About the role


As a member of the Executive Committee the F&B Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure the food and beverage operation achieves set goals and contributes positively to the guest experience and overall profitability of the hotel whilst maintaining Jumeirah Brand standards at all times.


Main Duties


  • Develop food and beverage strategy in order to provide innovative and exciting guest experiences that meet the business objectives
  • Participate in the preparation of the Annual Business Plan, and Sales and Marketing Plans to ensure food and beverage is adequately represented
  • Co-ordinate the organizational and administrative functions in all areas of the Food and Beverage Department to ensure delivery of the strategy and compliance with Jumeirah standards
  • Initiate special promotions and activities that generate additional revenue and popular interest.
  • Monitor service and food and beverage standards in all outlets and kitchens ensuring that managers take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitor the activities and trends of competitor hotels, restaurants and bars and keep up to date with international trends in order to ensure the competitive advantage of the hotel.
  • Make recommendations for modernization of equipment, service methods, and presentation to improve guest satisfaction and profits.
  • Ensure that each outlet is accounted for separately as an individual profit centre and is managed by a team who are accountable for their profitability.
  • Monitor closely the profitability of all food and beverage outlets in order to provide solutions to improve problem areas and assist in implementing corrective measures.
  • Set, in close conjunction with each Venue Manager, annual operating budgets which will form part of the Business Plan.
  • Participate in public relations activities, sales calls or other promotional activities designed at enhancing the image and profitability of the Food and Beverage department and the hotel.
  • Provide creative ideas to project and enhance the image of the hotel.
  • Personally, and frequently verify that guests in the hotel are receiving the best possible service available in order to make continuous improvement
  • Spend time in the various operations to ensure the operation is managed according to standard
  • Frequently verify that the best products are used in the hotel operation to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Ensure that HACAAP and other local regulations are adhered to ensure the highest food hygiene standards.
  • Perform any other duties that may be reasonably required.

About You


Essential


  • Management in large volume operations 4 + venues
  • Experience in free standing restaurants/bars
  • At least 2 years as F&B Manager in a luxury property
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from hotel or other management school.

Desirable:


  • Experience in restaurant refurbishment or development/concept development
  • Work experience in Middle East /GCC- strong preference in Oman but with intl experience also Resortor beach property experience

Skills:


Essential:


  • Strategic focus, able to analyze and respond to strategic elements
  • Strong business acumen and financially astute (budget process etc..)
  • Strong social skills with a focus on guest relations
  • Fluency in spoken and written business English 
  • Creativity and innovation in food and beverage concepts and operations
  • Multi-cultural team leadership.

Desirable:


  • Microsoft Office software knowledge
  • Menu compilation
  • Supplier negotiation skills
  • Finance and accounting knowledge
  • Additional languages (German, French or Arabic)
