Specialist General Accounting


Location: Morocco


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Accounting Specialist to join our finance team in Morocco. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general accounting, with at least five years of experience in a similar role. The candidate must be knowledgeable about local regulations, proficient in English, French and Arabic, and a fast learner who can adapt to our dynamic work environment.


Key Responsibilities:


General Accounting Operations:


  • Maintain and manage general ledger accounts with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly and timely.
  • Reconcile account discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:


  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.
  • Stay updated with changes in local accounting regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.

Budgeting and Forecasting:


  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on variances between actuals and budgeted figures and provide analysis for the same.

Internal Controls and Audits:


  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial information.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and provide required documentation and explanations.

Process Improvement:


  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in the accounting function.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

Support and Collaboration:


  • Collaborate with other departments to provide accurate financial information and support their financial needs.
  • Provide training and support to junior accounting staff as necessary.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) is preferred.
  • Fluency in French and Arabic is mandatory. Proficiency in English.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a corporate environment, preferably with knowledge of the Moroccan market.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and local regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fast learner with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
