QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, engineering, or computer science; professional finance qualification is preferred

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

In this role, you will lead the regional finance function in Africa and will focus on working closely with the Regional Leader and FPSC Finance Partner to help deliver sustainable financial performance, supporting and developing the office finance teams, being the senior finance representative for the region, actively shaping and implementing OFF priorities (including transformation, best practice and “Fit to Standard” objectives) and being a collaborative bridge between local and firm finance colleagues. Additionally, a key responsibility is ensuring finance teams deploy effective financial controls and adhere to firm finance and risk policies. The role reports to the Global Director of Regional Finance.
This role will be based in one of our Africa locations as part of McKinsey Africa complex with 6 offices across the continent (Johannesburg, Lagos, Casablanca, Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Luanda) and about 500 collaborators.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will be responsible for supporting the Regional Leader and FPSC Finance partner in delivering sustainable performance. This includes driving the planning process, monthly performance review, determining and tracking forward looking indicators, providing suggestions for improvement and advising on key financial matters (for example pricing and investment levels, working capital trends/NVA’s, opex management, headcount development and deployment etc.).  
You will also lead and develop the Regional Finance function and be an effective coach/mentor to other finance colleagues. You will identify, support and develop high performers and work with Office Finance leads to drive diversity and inclusion across the function and ensure effective succession plans.
As part of your role, you will ensure finance teams are aware of and adhering to firm finance & risk policies and support/advise colleagues regarding policy interpretation. You will also ensure effective controls are in place/followed and where weaknesses are identified by Internal Audit make certain the necessary improvements are implemented.
In addition, you will be acting as a role model and catalyst for change through actively participating in and supporting different transformational projects. This includes liaising with the other Regional CFOs through sharing and adopting best practices, identifying opportunities to transition appropriate activities to the Finance Shared Service Centres and working with the Transformation Team to actively promote “Fit to Standard” and drive the elimination of bespoke local Finance practices. You will also actively contribute to the SAP implementation and drive the development of an optimal delivery model for locally provided Finance services."
Furthermore, you will provide expertise and advice in areas such as delivering commercial support to Partners, advise on financial T&C/complex arrangements and work closely with the Corporate Tax Team to ensure tax compliance with local tax laws, highlight both tax risk and planning opportunities including, withholding tax and other local business/employment taxes.
