Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: MORROCO

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial records and reporting for the mining company. This position involves overseeing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and documented.
  • Cost Accounting: Analyze and report on production costs, inventory valuation, and variances to assist in financial decision-making.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitoring actual performance against targets and providing variance analysis.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and records are readily available and compliant.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and review tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior accounting staff, promoting best practices and continuous improvement in accounting processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience in the mining or resource sector is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
  • May require overtime during month-end and year-end close periods.
