AbbVie Immunology is expanding its Immunology Discovery team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We at Immunology Discovery are focused on identifying targets for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases using an interdisciplinary approach where we use high-throughput single cell biology experiments and cutting-edge computational approaches to study human disease derived samples and datasets.
We are seeking a Scientist with expertise in single-cell transcriptomics and multi-omics data integration to contribute to our immune cell atlas and develop data infrastructure solutions. This role will primarily focus on expanding and refining the existing immune cell atlas, integrating clinical trial data, and creating user-friendly tools for data access and analysis. You will be instrumental in driving research that supports drug discovery and immune system understanding, with a focus on precision medicine and clinical applications.
The person will work in a multi-disciplinary team analyzing multi-omics datasets to derive insights into immunological diseases, identify novel therapeutic targets specific to patient cohorts and AbbVie pipeline drugs. In addition, the candidate will contribute to presentations at scientific conferences and publications of translational findings in peer reviewed journals, new drug applications and regulatory filings. If you are passionate about translating complex biological data into actionable insights and contributing to the advancement of personalized medicine, we encourage you to apply.
This position will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts (hybrid optional) and requires passion, attention to detail, prior hands-on experience, and teamwork.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Scientist with expertise in single-cell transcriptomics and multi-omics data integration to contribute to our immune cell atlas and develop data infrastructure solutions. This role will primarily focus on expanding and refining the existing immune cell atlas, integrating clinical trial data, and creating user-friendly tools for data access and analysis. You will be instrumental in driving research that supports drug discovery and immune system understanding, with a focus on precision medicine and clinical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Immune Cell Atlas:
Lead efforts to expand the immune cell atlas by incorporating single-cell RNA-seq data from various tissues.
Refine cell type annotations to increase the granularity of the atlas, improving the ability to distinguish subtle differences between immune cell subsets across tissues.
2. Clinical Trial Data Integration:
Integrate multi-omics data (e.g., RNA-seq, epigenomics, proteomics) from clinical trial patients into the immune cell atlas.
Align patient-derived data with the atlas to model cellular responses to treatments in real-world clinical scenarios.
3. Development of Data Infrastructure and Tools:
Partner with information resources (IR) to design and implement efficient data storage solutions for managing large-scale single-cell and multi-omics datasets.
Create user-friendly web interfaces and analysis tools for internal and external researchers to access and visualize complex data, improving accessibility and fostering collaboration.
4. Method Development and Optimization:
Develop and refine analytical methodologies for single-cell data analysis and cell type annotation.
5. Collaborative Research:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including immunologists, computational biologists, and data scientists, to drive projects that expand the atlas and apply it to real-world applications such as drug discovery and immune monitoring in clinical trials.
Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Immunology, or related field.
5-7+ (BS) or 2-5+ (MS) years of experience in relevant research or industry roles is required for applicants with bachelor’s degree.
Strong programming skills (e.g., R, Python) and experience with bioinformatics tools.
Proven ability to develop analytical pipelines and manage large datasets.
Familiarity with database management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with single-cell data processing, data integration, and immune cell biology.
Experience with developing web-based interfaces for data visualization and access.
The position will be filled at a level that aligns with the candidate's education, experience, and achievements. Scientist I or Scientist II.
