Position Information Position Type Faculty Faculty Track Clinical Position Title Program Director, MSPA Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Portland, ME Description The Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director provides leadership and vision to advance the mission of the University of New England (UNE ) PA program, preparing masters level primary care Physician Assistants educated in all aspects of healthcare to include geriatrics, health promotion, disease prevention and public health practice. Special emphasis is placed on training clinicians prepared to provide primary care to rural and urban underserved populations. The Director of the Physician Assistant program is a full time 12 month position reporting directly to the Dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions.

Academic departmental administration, including oversight of the Masters in Physician Assistant curriculum, didactic course scheduling/planning, clinical year operations Teaching in the didactic and clinical phases of the program in areas of expertise as time allows Timely completion of ARC -PA documents, oversight of the ongoing program assessment, and adherence to the ARC -PA standards and policies to assure continued ARC -PA accreditation Mentorship and development of faculty and professional staff Manage faculty workload and assign teaching schedules to meet student needs consistent with college and university policy. Collaborative program planning and development Supervision of the medical director, principle and instructional faculty and staff in activities that directly relate to the PA program. Fostering a strong student-centered approach Management of financial/resource for all PA department affairs Oversight of the prospective student admissions process to the Masters PA Program Ability to build a collaborative team and engage in interprofessional cross-disciplinary work Advocacy for the PA Program to the college, university and community Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited institution, or equivalent Eligibility for certification as a Physician Assistant in Maine Current or emeritus NCCPA certification status. A Ph.D., Ed.D., or other relevant doctorate is preferred. Minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in a higher education academic faculty position or equivalent teaching experience. Previous or current experience as a clinically practicing physician assistant. PA program administrative experience (e.g. clinical coordination, academic coordination, assessment coordination) experience is preferred. Knowledge of or participation in the ARC -PA accreditation process strongly preferred.
