Manager, Portfolio Performance

Casablanca, Morocco



Description



Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager that contributes to Africa’s growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalyzing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding, with differentiated financial returns and impact.
Africa50 has raised over US$890 million so far from 32 African governments, the African Development Bank, and two African Central Banks, and intends to reach a target capitalization of US$3 billion. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors: Energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), Midstream gas, Transportation, ICT, Health infrastructure, Education and Fintech.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE



As a Manager, Portfolio Management, you will support the team in monitoring the performance of Africa50’s portfolio of direct and indirect investments and help ensure that these investments align with the company’s strategic goals.
The position sits within the Finance department.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Under the supervision of the Director, Portfolio Performance, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide effective portfolio management support by: (i) conducting in-depth analysis to evaluate the operational and financial performance of direct and indirect investments (ii) monitoring key risks and implementation of value creation plans of investments and (iii) developing and maintaining database of key performance indicators.
Provide analytical work on portfolio trends, drivers of investment returns, and draw and share lessons from the portfolio analysis.
Mentor / Train the Valuation & Reporting Coordinator.
Contribute to the preparation of periodic reporting on investment performance to Management, the Investment Committee and the Board of Directors.
Stay up to date on industry trends, market insights, and macroeconomic factors that may affect the company’s investments.
Respond to ad hoc internal requests on portfolio-related matters.
Assist in the selection of tools and technology to enhance data management and reporting to support efficient portfolio reporting.
Support the Finance team, from time to time, on other financial management matters of the company.
Assist, from time to time, on the company’s initiatives and projects on Finance related matters.

CANDIDATE PROFILE



Required background
A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in private equity, transaction advisory services or investment management.
At least a master’s degree in finance, or any other related discipline.

Business Acumen



Expertise in financial analysis and financial modelling.
Experience in investments valuation and corporate finance.
Experience in portfolio monitoring.
Experience in supervision of investment transactions in emerging markets is desirable.
Knowledge or experience of portfolio management systems would be a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience



Interest in Africa50’s mission, strategy and values.
Demonstrated experience in emerging markets, Africa a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of business intelligence solutions such as Capital IQ and/or Bloomberg will be an asset.
Culturally sensitive, able to relate to people of diverse backgrounds; living experience in emerging countries is a plus.

Language Requirements



Superior written and verbal communication skills in English and/or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.

The position will be based in Casablanca, Morocco.
