    FINANCE HEAD- French Africa Cluster

    Primary Job Function


    The Finance Head is responsible for leading FAC Finance unit in a geographical area and works with the top leadership teams to shape the organization’s future through the implementation of global strategies. The individual is responsible for translating strategy into goals and action, demonstrating a deep understanding of the relationship between the business and finance functions. 


    Control its financial resources and ensure that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.


    Activities may include financial analysis and reporting, taxation, insurance, credit control, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and costs control, and budgeting and forecasting


    Core Job Responsibilities


    • Business Support and Strategy:
    • Provide financial direction, guidance & leadership for the Region creating and sustaining a healthy growing business to support the Area financial
    • Inform proactively of any relevant changes impacting the business in the Region
    • Provide timely, accurate and insightful analysis which provides senior management necessary information with which to address variances and develop corrective actions
    • Recognize any financial issues that may affect the region, anticipate problems, or opportunities and determines whether action is needed
    • Actively participate in all acceleration plans, business deals, in-licensing / divestiture and other strategic alliance opportunities within the region
    • Operational Excellence:
    • Creates operating plans and budgets to ensure the effective delivery of business objectives within timescales and quality standards
    •  Supervise the monthly/quarterly financial close.
    • Responsible for preparing annual budgets and strategic long range operational and capital budgets and present to senior management
    • Monitor Plan/LBE Sales achievements and P&L figures on a monthly basis
    • Own the full P&L, B/S, cash flow responsibility and related monthly tracking of expenditures in the region
    • Review the profitability analysis for all the products marketed and assesses all new product opportunities
    • Proficiency in fundamental taxation policies (income tax, payroll tax, value added tax)
    • Lead regular Balance sheet reviews to ensure all reconciliations are properly documented
    • Responsible for managing receivable of agents through setting up proper collection systems and building relationships
    • Responsible for setting and challenging credit terms to agents being aware of market and competition situations
    • Responsible for managing interest fund requirements and monthly reimbursements
    • Responsible for the communication with APO and alignment on all the intercompany transactions
    • Business partnering:
    • Ensure optimal relationship with distributors when it comes to timely orders, inventory level and DSO
    • Apply and communicate Abbott values in all decisions internally and externally
    • Maintain relationships with other functional heads inside the cluster and foster teamwork
    • Responsible for all contractual relationships in liaison with legal dept (actively participate in reviewing all contracts from financial, operational and legal standpoints)
    • Actively participate in reviewing and concluding Third Party Manufacturing contracts in line with commercial plans 
    • People management
    • Develop appropriate succession planning to ensure ongoing development of key skill sets in order to minimize disruption to the company’s business and ensure that all members of the group are motivated to contribute fully to the realization of the company’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives. 
    • Implement Performance Management process with Direct Reports (Performance Excellence, End-year assessment, bonuses, salary increases).
    • Identify talents and propose specific Growth Plans.
    • Identify Low Performers. Develop Performance Improvement Plans.
    • Creates a good working environment with focus on acquiring, developing and retaining top talent for the corporation
    • Compliance
    • Ensure that all EPD practices are following the local legal laws and regulations in each country, as well as with all Abbott audit requirements
    • Responsible for ensuring corporate policies and procedures are implemented and where necessary, proper deviations are obtained and kept in order to support when needed.
    • Responsible for ensuring ethics and compliance policies are implemented across all countries.
    • Relay Abbott Corporate values – train new recruits

    • Strong business acumen, comprehension of the business levers, ability to partner and collaborate with business, problem solving skills
    • Directs the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting and variation reporting to identify areas requiring attention and areas of possible improvement. Leads the preparation of annual planning exercise based on sales forecast and planned spends.
    • Solution oriented approach, ability to work under pressure and high ownership of driving open issues for closure
    • Display “big picture” view and process-oriented skills. Applies decision making adjustment skills to help business deliver sustained results.
    • Possess extensive experience consolidating and interpreting results across multiple countries, support corporate strategy development, execution & monitoring with relevant variance and financial analysis
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team of qualified finance professionals. Attract, retain and develop talent in a highly competitive environment. Builds an effective leadership pipeline by coaching and development interventions.

    Qualifications


    • Graduate level (major in accounting).  Preferably CPA or CA.
    • Minimum 15 years in a finance field (including minimum 3 years in Financial/Planning Management role). 
    • Advanced level spreadsheet experience.
    • Multi-national exposure.
    • Understand and have good knowledge of cultural, political, and economic environments and health care systems in the region countries
    • Management level experience with people management responsibility
    • Fluent French language, in addition to fluent English. Arabic a plus
    • Strong systems background (GL system / Planning system / Microsoft)
    • Excellent communication skills in liaising with different functional stakeholders
    • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
    • Winning mentality, dynamic, proactive and innovative.
