Job Description

Seeking talented and passionate individuals to join our growing team, working together to advance cutting-edge scientific research, experiments and analytics. This role is based at AbbVie Waltham’s new, state-of-the-art laboratory designed to enable next-generation innovation. 


We are looking for a technical expert that will support late-stage process development activities of novel antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).  Independently execute laboratory experiments to address critical project needs, in close collaboration with supervisor. Continuously seek to improve personal skillset with respect to laboratory methods and processes.  Follow and read relevant literature associated with assignments.  Demonstrate proficiency in experimental techniques used in day-to-day responsibilities.  Collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups to support project goals.        


Responsibilities: 


  • Execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions related to pharmaceutical development activities. Proactively learn about broad objectives of the project to understand significance and impact of individual contributions.
  • Meet experimental and project timelines in accordance with CMC strategy.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, including analytical chemists, process chemists, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Support development projects with hands-on laboratory experimentation and data generation.
  • Learn and understand new experimental techniques, and develop proficiency in most commonly used techniques and analytical methods.
  • Maintain detailed and organized electronic laboratory notebook, and compile data into scientific presentations and reports to support project goals.
  • Routinely read relevant scientific literature.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 3 or more years’ experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out job function.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering research (industry or academia).
  • Hands-on experience performing bench scale chemical reactions (< 5L reaction volume)
  • Familiarity with sample preparation, operation, and analysis in: HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy
  • Exposure to GMP manufacturing environments
  • Ability to multitask and meet timelines in a dynamic environment.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
