Summary of the role:

A Systems Administrator (SysAdmin) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s IT infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems and networks, troubleshooting issues, and implementing new technologies.

Responsibilities:

• System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and hardware.
• Network Management: Monitor and manage network performance, ensuring security and efficiency.
• User Support: Set up user accounts, manage permissions, and provide technical support to employees.
• Security Protocols: Implement and monitor security measures, including firewalls and antivirus software.
• Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery processes are in place.
• Documentation: Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.
• Collaboration: Work with IT teams to plan and implement new technologies and upgrades.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 3 – 5 years Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing databases, networks (LAN/WAN), and security protocols.
• Scripting Knowledge: Ability to create scripts in languages like Python or PowerShell.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications (e.g., MCSA, CompTIA Security+).
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).

Work Environment:

• Typically works in an office setting, with some opportunities for remote work.
• May require on-call availability for system emergencies.
• This role is crucial for ensuring that an organization’s IT infrastructure runs smoothly and securely, supporting overall business operations.
