Background
UNDP Lebanon provides support in the country across a wide set of areas, with particular focus on the following:
Supporting the design and implementation of government’s comprehensive reform agenda, as the first and essential step in the country's process toward recovery and sustainable development. Simultaneously supporting the stabilization of core Government services at the local level and providing direct livelihood support through the crisis response programmes. Work on linking the crisis response with longer-term inclusive governance and green development programming in line with what is feasible given the political context.
To be effective in the highly volatile context, UNDP’s country strategy stresses the central role of the short-to-medium-term crisis response while simultaneously focusing on Lebanon’s longer-term governance and green development needs. It also recognizes the pressure on and need to support the provision of Government-led security services. Considering the uncertain national and subnational outlook, it emphasizes the need for an adaptive and experimental programme management approach.
UNDP Lebanon is seeking to recruit research and reporting intern(s) to support with programmatic activities across the above result areas. In addition, the intern would be called on to support UNDP’s coordination and partnerships functions. UNDP's support for development puts partnership at the center of all aspects of our work. UNDP partners include governments, the United Nations system, international financial institutions, the private sector, foundations and civil society organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the respective Programme Managers, Head of Strategic Planning and Policy Unit and Head of Programme Management Unit, Research and Reporting Intern is expected to execute the following duties:
Collect and analyze information and make reports on issues pertaining to the program result area including on socio-economic and other related analysis Manage the calendar of various meetings at programme level and assist with organizing programme related activities. Perform administrative tasks and draft operational documents. Prepare logistics for missions. Assist in organizing public events. Assist in reviewing field-level assessment reports, baseline studies, and evaluation reports. Support the M&E function to ensure that reports from partners/consultants are complete and meet the UNDP’s standards and quality. Support with consolidation of the country programme quarterly progress reports and submit them to the supervisor. Work with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing M&E related information. Work with the Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist to collect and/or assist to collect case stories, best practice documentation, lesson learnt and update and manage that information in project's reports and other knowledge products. Participate in virtual internal and external monitoring through assisting in organizing and facilitating various events such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars. Any other duties as required by the office.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields;
(b) Have recently graduated with a university degree (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields;
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
Experience:
Experience in research, data analysis, and administrative support is a plus. Highly Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
The intern will not, in principle, be home-based, and will need to be present in the UNDP office. Conditions are negotiable (remote work is occasionally accepted based on advance consultation).
