Job Description

Job Summary


Under the general direction of the Engineering Director and his/her delegate, and within the limits of established IHC and local Hotel policies and procedures, operates, maintains, and repairs all aspects of the Hotels systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assures implementation of IC policies, standards and procedures for:
    • Physical security programs
    • Effective preventive and routine maintenance
    • Maintenance planning and schedules
    • Maintenance systems and procedures
    • Inspections and staff supervision
    • POMEC labour standards and labour cost controls
    • Appearance and housekeeping of all engineering workshops and related spaces
    • Construction works.
  • Supports and initiates programs for the improvement of procedures and the reduction of costs.
  • Prepares cost estimates for construction and alteration works. 
  • Supervises and controls execution by engineers or contractors.
  • Establishes and uses techniques to monitor and supervise the work of subordinates, monitors the results of delegated assignments.
  • Establishes course of action to accomplish specific work schedules. Uses time efficiently personally well organized.
  • Uses training and development resources to improve subordinates skills and abilities. Helps subordinates qualify for future opportunities.
  • Gives work directions, resolves problems, prepares schedules and sets deadlines.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety rules when undertaking maintenance and repair work.
  • Communicates with guests by telephone or in person to ensure that maintenance requests have been satisfactorily completed.
  • Ensures a 10-15 minute response for all urgent maintenance requests including guest requests.
  • Attends and contributes to engineering departmental meetings.
  • Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer Chief Engineer or with the selection and training of staff (technical) for his hotel.
  • Responsible for the following work systems:
    • Maintenance orders
    • Functions
    • Construction work
    • Renovation work
    • Yearly building maintenance
  • Ensures that all parking and driveway areas are free of damage and obstruction and all signs and paint-work are in optimum condition.
  • Ensures that sidewalks and walkways around the property are smooth and even.
  • Demonstrates understanding and awareness of all company Policies and procedures relating to health hygiene and Fire life safety.
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications


Education: 


University Degree (Mechanical Engineering is essential)


Hospitality background is preferred


Skills:


Excellent communication skills


Proven leadership and team management skills


Excellent problem-solving skills 


Analytical competence


Ability to cope under pressure


English Language - Proficiency (Written and Verbal)


Experience:


5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in the hospitality industry


Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and general building maintenance. 


Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards.


Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on the property’s needs.
